Hey Y'all, They are having a contest at work and I decided to enter, I know that I am not the only creative person on this board so I decided to ask Y'all for your thoughts/ideas. The contest is to create a center piece, no bigger than 20 inches high, wide & long. The theme is superbowl football. My base is going to be a football helmet made of plastic canvas, the top removed, and a floral form tucked in the center. Using plant pokes & wooden skewers to add..........? Some ideas that I have come up with......Cookie lollipops (football helmet shaped, iced in local team), fall leaves on a vine, pom-poms made from tissue paper, the floral form will be covered with tissue paper grass and will sprinkle with foil chocolates (football shape of course) chocolate lollipops............... fabric/felt and foam craft mediums can be cut into whatever and attached to a woden skewer............ Anyone with any ideas/thoughts....... TIA Peace N Hugz O

Seagull,
If you think of something great.....creativity is not something that is "On Demand"...it tends to be one of those things that
you have and idea, and once the seed is planted, and you go
about the course of your day, ideas to expand on the idea will
start to pop up in your head.....all by themselves.
The more you stress......the more elusive they get.
thanx again
O

I love the football cookies idea. I think I would stay on the edible centerpiece idea and make Cheerleader and Football player cookies too. The pom-poms could be made out of Pull and Peel licorice in whatever color you would like to have match. They make a few different colors and flavors. Also lollipop molds come in many assorted types of football themes. The white chocolate comes tinted in about every color imaginable. I like the idea of play footballs on sticks being worked in too. You can make pennants out of fruit roll ups (the pom-poms can use this medium too). I love to play with food and centerpieces. This sounds like a fun contest. -Debi

Here's one idea (I am from Seattle ..lol).. Make a referee (black and white uniform out of the pull and peel licorice)...and then have the referee either putting a skewer through the helmut of the Seahawk player or the heart of the Seahawk fan.. this would be a theme based on last years "Superbowl"..where the Seahawks and the Seahawks fans were "screwed" by the refs... sorry..I am not over the "pain" of the loss from last year yet.. and so this is all I could come up with

You could leave a flap of fabric hanging on the side of the helmet and call it a "wardrobe malfunction"!

You could find out if your team has a mascot and make it, make a goal post, or do something with a super bowl ring, like a player reaching for it. Sounds like fun! Laurie

That's Easy, Bart Star, Vince Lombardi and whoever it was they kicked the snot out of so many years ago.
Or Lambeau field during the ice bowl. That says it all...
What is it with these indoor stadiums, anyway?
Unfortunately, the Pack seems to have slipped into stasis again, to awake who knows when...

Odyssey,
If I was going to come up with a centerpiece such as yours, I would make it a helmet carved out of a large melon. It would be like carving a pumpkin. Place it on a "field" as the base. Take other fruits shaped as different aspects of football and have them on the wooden sticks. You could add the other ideas that you had like lollipops and such. The centerpiece would be edible. There would be a lot of work to this, but you said you were creative.
Just my thoughts on this. Best of luck in the contest.

Yeh, it would be a bit of a mess on display. I didn't realize that it was going to be out for days. Sorry. Maybe some other time perhaps.
Maybe you will get the right answer through a dream; I always come up with the right answer after sleeping on it.
I'll keep thinking though.
