I tried to call the TA today and had a wierd thing happen. The phone doesn't even ring because I get a message saying that it won't accept calls from phones that have the caller ID blocked. It says to dial *82 before the number to turn off the block. I'm calling from Japan, and I don't have any function turned on to block caller ID. I've tried calling from several phones, including my cell phone, and I get the same message. I've also tried putting the *82 before the TA's number, but it doesn't work either. Since I'm calling from Japan, I put the number 1 (for the U.S. country code) first, then I tried putting *82 between the 1 and the first digit of the phone number. No luck. Does anybody have any ideas on getting around this? I literally can't contact the TA. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze. This is so frustrating! Any help appreciated. Funado

Thanks guys, I'll try both of those things. I'm calling from Japan, though. I hope I can get the operator to understand what I'm talking about. LOL. Funado

Try using a calling card or have a friend in the States do a three way call for you so that their phone number will show up on the TA's caller ID.

What you have to do is dial *82, wait til you here another dial tone kick in, then dial the number you first wanted. If you dial *82 and don't wait to hear the next dial tone, the number you are trying to reach will not work.

International calls are sometimes routed through strange places. My friend was calling me from a cell phone in Africa and it came up on my caller ID as a call from Westchester County, New York. I always take my anonymous call blocking feature off when he's out of the country. *82 may work in the US but not overseas. Santasi

Thanks everyone!!! I got it worked out. It was kind of a routing problem. I was using a system that lets me make cheap international calls, but it's routed through the US somewhere and THEIR phone apparently blocks the caller ID function. When I tried an ordinary (but expensive) international call, it went through perfectly. Problem solved. I really appreciate everyone's help!!!!! Funado
