First thing I would check, (assuming you are on XP) they probably turned on the built in firewall.
If you have a hardware or router based firewall in your system, turn this off.
If you are using Zone Alarm, they may have tightened the port use on it.
If you were using the XP firewall, check to the the appropriate ports are opened up to use those online apps. I do not use them and have no idea what they are, but the documentation for the apps should mention the port numbers.
Next time you're driving past Best Buy, be sure to launch a flaming bag of dog turds at them.

Thanks Bridgantine! I thought Best Buy removed by Zone Alarm firewall software. I discovered it was not turned enable. I enabled it and everything works now.

i know this thread hasn't been used much, but i have a problem with my sound....no sound from desktop speakers at all! I get sysytem sounds like asterisk and windows logon and others , but can't seem to get mp3's and other media to play.
Any advice would be helpful. I will be back in about an hour to see replies...thanks.
