Bartone to run special Johnny Lightning car in Chicago: Tony Bartone and the Jim Dunn Racing team will feature a special-edition Johnny Lightning paint scheme on the Got CMKX?/Lucas Oil Funny Car at this weekend’s Ameriquest Mortgage NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.
“We’re excited to bring out our Johnny Lightning-themed Funny Car in Chicago,” said crew chief and car owner Jim Dunn. “We have enjoyed a long running relationship with Playing Mantis and Racing Champions and we really appreciate their continued strong support over the years.”
The Jim Dunn Racing team has campaigned both a Johnny Lightning and a Playing Mantis Funny Car in the past. The team won back to back NHRA national events running their Johnny Lightning car in 1998, notching a win at the Pontiac Excitement Nationals in Columbus, followed by a victory two weeks later at the Sears Craftsman Nationals in St. Louis.
