I don't have any idea how to research this area. Once this stock hits, I'd think all of us would like to have competant representation. Is there a website by state that rates these people?
I also have plans to hire a money management firm to handle my investments. I have had contact with several, but don't know how to get references or ratings on them so that I can evaluate who would be best to do the job. Any suggestions?

Nothing concrete, digby, but I did read a book that was recommended by someone on the other board about 7-8 months ago, called "Sudden Money."
You can order it from Amazon. It really opens your eyes to the things you should be prepared with before any large amounts of money come into your life.
I'd definitely recommend it. Great reading, and it puts you in a good place -- ready to avoid lots of pitfalls that typically happen to someone when they receive any kind of windfall.

It sure would be nice if there was a website that rated each of these individuals though.

I just found the book.
It's called, Sudden Money -- Managing a Financial Windfall, and it's by Susan Bradley.
She's a financial planner who has a lot of experience with people who have received large, sudden amounts of money -- through wills, lottery wins, company options, and things like that.
She also tells in her book how to find the right financial planner, tax attorney, and accountant for yourself, and how to set up trusts.
Hope this helps!
